Jacoby broke his back Thursday in a motorcycle accident on the beach. He is overnighting at the hospital in Dakar, Senegal and is in stable condition as we write. We praise God he wasn’t paralyzed. The doctors found at least one bone chip on the scans and after consulting with our retired CMA doctor from Gabon, we realized the best thing is not to move him by air ambulance at this time to the USA as it is too great a risk for permanent spinal cord damage or paralysis.
So, if surgery is deemed necessary, we will go ahead as this is our best option. Please pray that the Lord directs the surgeon’s hands and that Jacoby is calm and pain is managed. Pray against infection.
We covet your prayers as the Spirit leads you.
There are too many to thank who helped us today...as the body of Christ did its thing. Praising God for you and your prayers.
Please keep checking back here for more updates on Jacoby and leave your encouragements and prayers for him and his family in the comments sections. To leave a comment for Jacoby and the family click on the title of the post then scroll down to the bottom.

Update 2
Thanks for your continued prayers.
Jacoby has a broken, but not displaced back, with no spinal cord damage- PTL! We are going in for a cat scan...to make sure no “cats” got in their somehow! Thanks for your continued prayers. He is in good spirits as they are managing pain with tylenol and ibuprofen together. Pray God does a miracle to confound the Fula doctor.

Jacoby's Accident
He is in a lot of pain please pray. He laid there for an hour. Bruised back, possible ribs bruised. We don't know if they are broken.
This happened 3 hours ago, and he just spoke a complete sentence the first time. He hasn’t walked yet.
Please pray.
We want to rule out internal bleeding he can’t take a full breath. He’s a tough kid, helmet and goggles save his face. Your prayers are needed. We are at the army hospital downtown Dakar now.
